DescriptionThe Huntington's statue of Pan is presented bent over a pitcher squeezing some grapes. The figure has pointed ears, short curly hair and a beard, and wears a fig-leaf. He is represented with the body of a man. Pan is often depicted with a goat like face, pointed ears and horns as well as hoofed hairy goat legs.
Pan was the Greek god of fields and woods, flocks and herds. During the Renaissance, he also personified Lust.
