Label TextWater Street Stairs offers an unusual perspective onto the narrow corridors created by Lower Manhattan's dense architecture and a view to the water that reveals the riggings of ships in the harbor. This print was made toward the end of Pennell's career, at which point he was renowned as a leader and advocate of printmaking in the United States.
