Label TextAfter her move to Meudon in 1911, John devoted herself to a few local subjects of a very modest nature. Although an oil painter, she was particularly prolific as a watercolorist. She often did variations on the same theme. As a result, her watercolor sketches, such as this one, are difficult to date because they are so similar in treatment. John painted several versions in oil as well as watercolor of this composition of a figure, or two, walking up a dirt road.
