Label TextHunt employs a significant amount of opaque pigment to explore the play of light and shadow across the landscape in this watercolor, a study in the close observation of natural effects. Touches of white along the roofline of the cottage and one side of the sloping ridge on which it rests appear as sparkling sunlight. Elsewhere, marks of the same pigment create the effect of shimmering puddles left behind by a passing storm. The dashes of pink blossoms on the tree by the path in the background suggest that this watercolor was made in the spring (2022).
