DescriptionA Ming dynasty Fahua-type porcelain figure with turquoise and aubergine glazes. The design represents Bodisattva Avalokitesvara (Guanyin) seated on a lotus pedestal in the maharajhla, "the posture of Royal Ease." The right knee is raised with his hand on it, the left sole of his foot is turned up with his left hand is on his left thigh. He has a biscuit chest with pearls and flowers, possibly a tiara on his head and two miniature attendants are on either side. The base is in the form of lotus flower.
