DescriptionThe figure is described in the 1918 sale catalogue from the American Art Association as a "standing figure of a youth with curling hair wreathed with roses. He wears a loose peplum and greaves. The left arm is held across his body, the hand holding an apple, while the right arm hangs at his side, the hand grasping a pouch. Tree trunk support. On a rectangular base and original incurved pedestal." There is little iconographic information to identify this statue. The figure is presented with his left arm across his chest grasping an apple. He has a garland of flowers in his hair. Perhaps he is a worshipper of Bacchus and the harvest, yet without further documentation it is impossible to guess his true identity.
