Label TextThis striking view of Venice, along with its companion Venice, St. Mark's (#78.20.27A), shows Canaletto's ability to capture the intricacies of Venetian architecture. His precise handling and clear delineations of Venetian topography record some of the most famous landmarks of this renowned city: the distinctive pink and white palace of the Doges (Venice's elected rulers), the twin columns framing the entrance to the piazza, and the domed church of Santa Maria della Salute at the entrance to the Grand Canal.
