Label TextReginald Marsh's work often features women alone or in groups. After graduating from Yale, Marsh studied art in New York with John Sloan and George Luks, both members of the Ashcan School. Sloan's interest in city life, particularly voyeuristic glimpses of the young working women who had become prominent in the urban landscape, influenced Marsh throughout his career.

Marsh preferred etching to lithography. In this print, one of his few lithographs, he drew the outline of the figure with short, choppy lines set parallel to one another, creating a sense of motion.
