Not on viewMount Tamalpais is a classic example of the Pictorialist style. Lavenson used a Picturesque composition to lead the viewer on a visual journey through the landscape, with the mountain as the ultimate destination. To produce the diffused, "fuzzy" quality that compares to the loose brushwork of the Impressionists, Lavenson switched from the optically correct, sharp-focus lens that came with her camera to an uncorrected, soft-focus lens.
