Label TextMorris & Company produced a line of inexpensive rush-seated chairs that were popular with clients and often copied by competitors. The delicate design of this armchair was based on an early 18th-century rural prototype, seen in Sussex by the painter Ford Maddox Brown, who later designed several variations.
