Label TextMany of Dearle's designs illustrate his strong interest in historical and eastern textiles. This is evident in this design in the formal arrangement of the pattern in rows and the trios of pink flowers displayed in distinct groups, similar to the small floral clusters Dearle employed in his tapestry designs. By 1885, Dearle (1860-1932) was responsible for most of the firm's textile designs, producing twenty-five patterns for printed textiles over the next forty-seven years. The title of this design may derive from a small market town in Lincolnshire, named after the Anglo-Saxon term for spring or stream.
