Label TextThis portrait of Anne Garth-Turnour in a fashionable pink silk gown and black shawl was made shortly after her husband was elevated to the Irish peerage, as Baron Winterton of Gort, County Galway, Ireland. Ramsay paints Lady Winterton’s serene expression and easy, informal pose to convey the dignity of her position, while still suggesting a strong sense of character.
