Label TextThese views are among Kensett's earliest known drawings. They survive from a trip he and John Casilear made through England and France in the autumn of 1841. The energetic, though somewhat tight and halting lines are characteristic of Kensett's early drawing style, clearly influenced by his work as an engraver.
