Label TextThe tapestry series of Italian Village Scenes (or Les Fêtes Italiennes) was produced at the French manufactory of Beauvais from 1736 to 1762. In 1734 Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686-1755), a director of the factory, commissioned the artist François Boucher to provide eight subjects of which five are seen in this gallery. More than one hundred pieces from this popular series were made.Status
