A favorite decorative scheme on these architectural elements was birds and flowers signaling success and harmonius living. These pieces were purchased by Mrs. Hong from a Japanese dealer in Los Angeles in the 1940s. They decorated one of the Hong properties, the entrance hall of the bank on Broadway in Chinatown, now an architect's office.
