DescriptionAbigail M. Andrew’s family sampler, under instruction of D. Warren’s school; with decorated box in ivory and green floral motif, with family paper. Wrought by Abigail M. Andrews at age 13 under the instruction of D. Warren’s School, Woonsocket Falls. Abigail was born in 1818. Her parents were David Andrews, born November 22, 1783. Her mother was Sarah Smith, born 1785. Siblings: David B. Andrews (born 1808), Lucy (born 1822). The sampler gives the date of birth and date of death of everyone in the family except no death date for Mary and Abigail. The sampler features this quote: “When to my work God puts an end / And hence my soul doth call / May I with joy to heaven assend / And quit this earthly ball.”
InscribedOn verso reads “A.E. Todd 33 Middle Street, Woonsocket”.
