DescriptionOne large round-headed light between two smaller rectangular lights; with subjects in four tiers in the central light, and three tiers in the side lights. Left light shows (from top to bottom): Homer, Chaucer, Shakespeare. Central light shows: Three Arts - three seated female figures, of Painting, Literature and Music; Medea and Phyllis, from Chaucer's 'Good Women'; Caxton, Printing Press and Durer; Cromwell and Wolsey (from Henry VIII), and Shylock and Portia (from The Merchant of Venice). The right light shows: Dante, Milton, Tennyson. Scroll labels behind heads of the poets; borders all around, with coats of arms at top center and lower right corner of central light; the subjects separated by columns in second, third and bottom tier of central light.
